Why Study Chinese?

From a historical perspective, the Chinese civilization is over 6000 years old and one of the oldest and richest in the world. Chinese is one of the few languages which remain pictographic, that is, it utilizes a symbol or illustration to represents an object or a concept. Chinese calligraphy is a form of art.

Chinese is named one of the four "crucial languages" for Americans. Mandarin Chinese is the predominant language of China and is spoken by nearly 20% of the world's population.
 

Advances in technology and travel have made the world a smaller place and China is emerging as an investment target for the global community with the greatest potential as a market for global goods.

Interaction among the world’s population will not only become more routine; it will become necessary in order for businesses to succeed. Their employees must be prepared to meet the challenges of the next generation.
