Some studies indicate that children who learn a second language before the age of 15 can speak the second language as well as they can the first language.

Many undergraduate institutions have recognized the imperative need for additional language skills and have made the study of another language a prerequisite to graduation. A second language can open the door to new cultures and new opportunities in the world. It is important to understand that learning a second language is for every body, children, adolescences, young adult and adult. Nobody has to feel left behind.

International travel is commonplace and will become even more accessible as advances in air travel make it more economically feasible. Advances in computer technology have made worldwide communication routine, resulting in global interaction on a scale never before imagined. Social, business and political communication is taking place every day via computer, cell phones and e-mail.

Today more than ever, people seem to be enthusiastically interested in other cultures and have the desire to travel and interact in the global community.
